Job Description
A local New Braunfels construction company specializing in commercial and residential development (that mostly takes on projects in New Braunfels, Seguin, and San Antonio) is looking for an Heavy Equipment Supervisor to join their growing team!
This family-owned and operated business, with deep roots in the community, has spent the past 50 years building a reputation for quality workmanship, honesty, and their “do whatever it takes” approach to every project! Once going permanent with the company, you are eligible for annual evaluations and raises based on performance, health insurance, and 2 weeks of accumulated vacation days!
Responsibilities:
- Responsible to safely operate while working around ground crews
- Knowledge of fine grading operations without any machine controls. Knowledge of GPS/Robotic Machine controls and rough grading is beneficial
- Blade operators will be experienced in cutting grade to within +/- 0.04’ and be able to monitor equipment operation and identify malfunctions
- Will be responsible for machine cleanliness and minor routine maintenance of your assigned piece of equipment
- Operates GPS and Laser Controlled Grading System motor grader is beneficial, but not required.
- Performs finish grade work to blue tops or other close specification control
- This work is subject to strict inspection and must conform closely to specifications
- Motor Grader Operator will be responsible to grade excavation and embankment to lay base and other materials
- The Motor Grader Operator may blade haul roads and other general work
- Removes old surfaces as well as spread and process materials to construct street/road surfaces to precise grade specifications
- Moves levers and depresses pedals to maneuver equipment and raise, lower, and tilt attachment
- Feels lever and listens for stalling action of engine to estimate depth of cut
- Drives bulldozer in successive passes over terrain to raise or lower terrain to specified grade following markings on grade stakes or hand signals
- Responsible to construct/grade new roadways, base courses, building pads, footing excavation and water ponds and to properly slope and grade to specifications
- Ability to maintain the initiative to maintain the flow of work under minimal supervision
- Performs maintenance work to motor grader including oiling, greasing, and making necessary adjustments to equipment
- Inspects equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil, and water
- Responsible for general housekeeping, light maintenance of equipment, proper care of equipment, operating the equipment without damaging it along with maintenance checks of equipment including reporting usage/utilization hours on a daily basis
- Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures
- Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
- Climbs on and off equipment
- Works weekend, holiday, and/or overtime work as the project needs require
- Performs Laborer work as required
- Performs other duties and operates other equipment as assigned
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty
Requirements:
- Must pass a drug screen and criminal background check
- Must be able to start asap
- Fastens attachments to tractor with clevis or wedge pin hitches
- Have a minimum of 3 years of finish blade / motor-blade operating experience
- Have a minimum of 3 years of rough grading with dozer or moto-blade
- Have a minimum of 3 years of Heavy Equipment Operating Experience with multiple types of equipment or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to work safely under pressure with time constraints in a changing environment
- Frequent gross body movements such as bending, climbing into equipment, lifting, twisting, standing, balancing, stooping, handling materials, moving around hazardous sites
- Ability to sit for long periods of time
- Good Eye to Hand coordination a must
- Flexible availability to include overtime and possible nights, weekends and holidays
- Ability to work in a number of different project locations, often times daily
- Must be able to supply your own transportation to and from the office(car). A work truck will be provided from the office to the jobsites and back.

- 6 AM – 5:30 PM
- Mon-Fri
- Seldom Saturdays
Job Pay:
- $ DOE/Hour
